Statue of Unity –
To mark an honour to the first deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of Independent India, an Indian statesman and Independence activist, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a colossal statue was built on 31st Oct’2018. The Statue of Unity is the highest statue in the world gaining its height to 597 feet on the Narmada river dam in the Kevadiya colony, about 100 kms south to Vadodara and 150 kms to Surat. Denoted as Iron Man of India, his statue depicts his true expressions, posture, dignity, confidence as well as his kindness. The statue made of bronze and by the use of two 250 tonne tuned mass dampers is truly a replica of Patel’s dhoti clad legs and the use of sandals as footwear. It can withstand an earthquake of upto 6.5 on the Richer scale and windstorms of upto 180 kms per hour.
